We’ll just have to wait and see if they execute it correctly.The most recent chapter of the popular manga and anime series 'Attack on Titan' was finally released and it contained many revelations that will surely have an effect on the entire story. Although this episode was not the best by any means, and they deviated heavily from the manga, I still think there’s potential for this series to be something truly epic. But I’ve ranted enough and I’m not even sure where I’m going with this anymore.ĪNYWAY. Like come on, it seriously left much to be desired towards the end…. Although I’m still not happy about the pacing of episode 4. I could see this taking place differently in a different area and still achieve the same emotional impact for the watcher and the characters, though.Īfter writing all this out I’m thinking about it more clearly and see that there is still potential for this story to be great. Especially when they return and that big emotional sacrifice happens. Perhaps they will find Yuugo in the forest? I could see that working out, actually - He did leave the bunker to search for Lucas, and that is where a good chunk of the lessons Emma and Ray learn from him takes place anyway, but it’s still sad to see all the good bunker scenes Yuugo and all the kids had together in the manga gone from the anime. I don’t see how they could introduce Yuugo and Goldy Pond (and all the human and demon characters that come with it) after destroying the bunker and skipping over the time frame in which all this took place. I’m going to keep my hopes up and continue watching this season, because I love this series and I think this anime adaption DOES have potential if they do it well. I do not see how they could turn this around in a good way, at least not yet. Also, there’s a 2 year time limit to rescue the rest of the children, and a whole half of that was glossed over in one, poorly executed episode. The new anime story has deviated so hard from the source material, they took out essential characters, locations, and plot and erased over a years’ worth of Emma’s hardships and growth. It was not conveyed well at all that an entire year has passed, and I’m disappointing with the overall pacing of episode 4. Emma is still wearing a bandage over her ear and they’re all wearing the same farm clothes. Are we expected to think a YEAR has passed since the escaped kids found the shelter? The only thing that conveyed that was text in a journal that was on screen for like, a second and a half. Yeah okay so, I read the manga like 2 years ago and I have a shit memory, but I know the direction of s2 e3 and s2 e4 have altered the timeline and plot irreparably.Įven as a new, anime only story this was not a great episode.
